What We Do
Marriage Preparation is an interactive program for engaged couples. This program is designed to help couples spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually prepare for the sacrament of marriage. The course is led by several volunteers, all of whom are married couples and Church of Our Lady parishioners. It includes educational sessions on conflict, communication, and the role of prayer in the marriage. There are expert guest speakers on financial planning and sexuality, and Fr. Noon does a presentation on the spirituality of marriage. The course includes lots of group discussion, and guided exercises completed by each couple.
Here are some comments from recent particiants in the course.
It was very useful to talk to your future spouse about things you wouldn’t normally talk about. The facilitators were very real and down to earth.
I will remember a lot, especially the sexuality discussion.
It wasn’t what I would have expected. It was much more enjoyable and informative.
Most couples meet individually with Fr. Noon before taking the course. If you are interested in registering, fill in the form below and a member of the team will contact you with more information.
Interested in Volunteering?
The marriage prep team can always use help, and there are are many ways for married couples to get involved. Some people lead group discussions, while others help out behind the scenes with planning, registration, or snacks. Many volunteers find that getting involved with Marriage Preparation offers an oppertunity to renew the love and principles that brought them together on their own wedding day. For the busy married couples, young or old, Marriage Prep is a relatively small commitment as it is run on a Friday night and all day Saturday just twice a year.
